Authorising Engineer The Authorising Engineer AE is an independent engineer appointed by Management to take responsibility for the effective management of the safety guidance recommended under the Department of Health Memorandums HTM06. Should an Electrical Incident occur on site, the Authorising Engineer (AE) should be immediately informed to enable an incident investigation to be initiated. Normal procedures for informing the HSE still prevail For a detailed design review of a new electrical distribution system, The Authorising Engineer (AE) is best placed to carry out an independent design review. Should an Electrical Incident occur on site, the Authorising Engineer (AE) should be immediately informed to enable an incident investigation to be initiated. Normal procedures for informing the HSE still stand. For a high level sub-station design which is fully designed, tested and commissioned to comply with current standards and with resilience, contact the Authorising Engineer (AE). For a on site training programme for Competent Persons, the Eta Projects Authorising Engineer (AE) can provide bespoke training on site to suit local conditions complete with personal Assessments. The Authorised Person (AP) is appointed in person in writing by Management on the recommendation of the Authorising Engineer (AE) and is responsible for implementation Health Technical Memorandums HTM06.
The Designated Person (DP) person is a board member or reports to the Board. The designated person (DP) has overall responsibility for the High Voltage (HV) and Low Voltage (LV) electrical systems and has a duty under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
Competent Person (CP) to operate either HV or LV systems is appointed in person by the Authorised Person (AP) and is responsible for defined works carried out under the Permit to Work safety documentation HTM06-02 and HTM 06-03
